I produced this audio documentary.
When a swing-dancing mechanical engineer meets Harvard Law’s first deafblind graduate on the dance floor, a life-changing friendship sparks a journey into accessible tech design. This audio documentary follows David Madey’s mission to reimagine Braille literacy through a device no larger than a deck of cards. Told through the voices of engineers and accessibility advocates, this is a story about connection, curiosity, and what it means to build with—not just for—community.
Alt text: The stylized cover art has a deep brownish-purple background. At the top, the title is written in large, elegant cursive font in tan color: “Pirate to PocketDot.” Directly beneath the title, the word “PocketDot” is spelled out in Braille using tan-colored dots. At the bottom center of the image stands a cartoonish asparagus character dressed as a pirate. The asparagus pirate has leafy green tips for hair, a dark mustache, a brown pirate hat, a red coat, and a belt with a gold buckle. His left hand is a classic pirate hook. The character has a stern, exaggerated expression, adding a humorous and quirky tone to the cover. The overall style is claymation.
